MOCAK – Museum of Contemporary Art in Cracow – presents Between Sculpture and Fashion, an individual exhibition by Halina Mrozek, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow.
The exhibited works present the artist’s interest in the juxtaposition of art and fashion.
In her works, the artist depicts different psychological profiles of an individual, bringing into play her experience as a sculptor, which, here, results in works reminiscent of fashion creations.
The exhibition opened on 7 September and runs until 30 October 2011.

One of my favorite fashion labels, the Belgian design duo A.F. Vandevorst, was asked to design a paper bag (or “shimbun” bag) for the weekend edition of Belgian newspaper De Morgen.
Paperbag is an interesting concept inspired by the “shimbun” bag idea from Japan. De Morgen invited four designers – A.F. Vandevorst, Bruno Pieters, Dirk Van Saene, and Delvaux to create unique prints which De Morgen readers can fold to make their own stylish paper bag.
The designs can be found in the four consecutive weekend editions starting with the A.F. Vandevorst print on September 3rd. Folding instructions for four different bag styles can be downloaded from the project’s website.
Great video for S.C.U.M’s latest single Whitechapel, directed by Tim Noble and Sue Webster.
Nice tune. Their debut album Again Into Eyes will be out in September.

Gorgeous 12th issue of Acne Paper – The Youth Issue – celebrates the young and their creative talents. We learn about the lives and passions of many inspiring young men and women – ballet dancers at the Bolshoi, musicians, film director Xavier Dolan (Les amours imaginaires), a craftswoman at Hermes, and “the new traditionalists” – practitioners of old artisanal traditions (a 26 year old diamond artisan from Antwerp, 24 year old chocolatier from Deinze in Belgium, or an apprentice perfumer from Grasse), among many others. Truly inspiring stories of people from various disciplines.
This is a beautifully designed issue full of interesting portraits, interviews, and articles celebrating youth and youth nostalgia. A Picture of Youth (a short study of masterpieces portraying the young), portrait of ballet prodigy Daniil Simkin (a soloist at the Amercian Ballet Theatre in New York), a reportage from the Bolshoi Theatre, a look back on 19th century painter Dante Gabriel Rossetti, and the fashion editorial Persona (photography by Daniel Jackson, styling by Mattias Karlsson) were especially interesting.
